Not every mural tells a story about the past. This one is about right now.
The HOPE Mural came to life in 2023 through a partnership between Strength for Catoosa and well-known muralist SEVEN. It began as a countywide art contest open to middle and high school students with a chance for young people to put their vision of hope into the world. Contest winner Chloe Lyles collaborated directly with SEVEN to bring her design to the wall, with the top four student finalists picking up brushes alongside the professional to help paint it themselves.
The result is a striking piece of public art on the side of Jessie Thornton’s United Karate Studio in downtown Ringgold and serves as a reminder, visible to anyone passing by, that holding on is always worth it.
