Paint the Story of Christmas
The morning after the Down-Home Christmas Parade, the Ringgold Depot trades parade-night glow for paintbrushes and a little holiday quiet. Local artist and art professional Lesley Austin is back with a one-morning Kids Christmas Art Class, and your 3rd through 6th grader has a seat at the table.
Over three unhurried hours, young artists will paint their own nativity scene on canvas, learning real techniques step by step as the story of that first Christmas comes to life under their brushes. Then they’ll create a handmade ornament for the family tree. Kids go home with two finished pieces, and you go home with a keepsake you’ll unpack every December for years to come.

About Your Instructor
Lesley Austin is a local artist and art professional with a gift for nurturing creativity in young people. Her approach goes beyond technique. She meets each child where they are, encourages their natural artistic instincts, and creates a space where kids feel confident picking up a brush. Families may remember her from this summer’s Kids Art Camp at the Depot, and she’s bringing that same heart to this Christmas-themed class.
Making a weekend of it?
Start Friday night at the Down-Home Christmas Parade, with the tree lighting and pictures with Santa that come right along with it. Then come back downtown Saturday morning for class. While your young artist is busy painting, enjoy three kid-free hours to stroll downtown Ringgold and check a few names off your Christmas list at our local shops. After pickup, stay downtown for lunch together and hear all about their masterpiece.
